A finance-operations practice for Amazon 1P vendors.
As You May Studio is the independent practice of Mai Matsubara — a former Amazon Finance Manager and Senior Business Intelligence Engineer working at the intersection of finance operations and data. The practice helps vendors review Amazon deductions, organize supporting evidence, and prepare dispute-ready workpapers with the confidentiality and discipline expected in finance operations.
From Amazon's side of the ledger
I spent six years inside Amazon — first as a Finance Manager, then as a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer — across the Books, Robotics, and Returns organizations: the parts of the machine where POs, invoices, shipments, and returns meet, and where the money leaks when they don't. Along the way that meant working across data, finance, e-commerce (retail and FBA), and operations.
Since then I've worked as a data engineer, building the kind of reconciliation pipelines most companies only run by hand. The studio's flagship service, the Amazon 1P Deduction Desk, applies both: deduction triage, evidence review, and dispute-ready packages for vendors whose deductions are material but who don't have — and don't need — a full-time deductions analyst.
How I work
- Exports, not credentials. You keep control of Vendor Central; I work from the reports you pull.
- Human-reviewed. Pipelines do the matching and sorting; a person decides what's worth disputing, and nothing is submitted automatically.
- Confidential by default. Client files are deleted within 30 days of an engagement ending; a mutual NDA is available before anything is shared.
- Decision-ready output. Every deliverable is built so a busy finance or ops lead can act on it the same day.
